Scientific interests:

Comparative and functional morphology of the digestive system in vertebrates (in particular, mammals, amphibians).

Variety of mechanisms of assimilation of nutrients.

Adaptive and compensatory mechanisms of reorganization of digestive system in vertebrates in ontogenesis and phylogenesis.

Evolution of digestive system of vertebrates.

Current investigations:

Mammals (Chiroptera, Cetacea) and amphibians digestive system development in ontogenesis.

Education and qualification:

1973 - Diploma of the Biological Department of Kyiv State Taras Shevchenko University, Biology Faculty (highest honors). Biologist, histologist, cytologist, embryologist.

1993 - Degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences (equivalent of Ph.D.), Institute of Zoology of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Kyiv. Dissertation entitled " Functional morphology and evolution of digestive system of chiropterans".

Professional experience:

1966-1974 - laboratory assistant, Laboratory of ecology and physiology of insekts, Schmalhauzen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv.

1974-1984 - senior laboratory assistant, Department of evolutionary morphology of vertebrates, Schmalhauzen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv.

1985-1993 - Junior Research Scientist, Department of Evolutionary Morphology of Vertebrates, Schmalhauzen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv.

1994-1999 - Research Scientist, Department of Evolutionary Morphology of Vertebrates, Schmalhauzen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv.
